Dalian covers an area of 12,574 square kilometers. It ranks the 7th among Chinese cities in terms of overall strength and enjoys provincial level economic decision making authority. By the end of 2006, the total number of foreign-funded enterprises approved in Dalian has amounted to over 10 thousand, which come from over seventy countries and regions. So far, about 4000 of them have started operation and production.
